Welcome to The Kenmore Book Club

Welcome to the first posting of the Kenmore Book Club.

The Kenmore Book Club has been set up to introduce residents of Kenmore and surrounding suburbs to new books and new faces. The group has no political, religious, or business affiliations but we are very grateful that Lilyfields Restaurant on Kenmore Road has agreed to host our monthly meetings.

The idea behind the group is to foster a sense of community spirit and develop friendships through social interaction and discussion about books. Every month a new book will be selected and the following month we can meet to discuss our feelings and thoughts about the book.

Everyone is welcome. We will be hosting two meetings a month, both on the first Wednesday of every month (first one to begin on 3rd September). There will be a morning tea session for those who are free during the day, and a dinner session for those who cannot attend during the day or who prefer an evening event.

Although Lilyfields will be the bookclub home, the club is organised independent of Lilyfields, so please direct any enquiries about the club here first. Of course, all information will be forwarded to Lilyfields about the current book and they will be working, wherever possible, to tie in a theme with whatever the current book is.

The first book will be nominated shortly so check back in the next couple of days to find out our first read.

Finally, a book club is only as successful as its members wish it to be - have an open mind about the books, be prepared to be challenged by your reading material, be willing to read something that you might otherwise avoid. It is only through facing challenges and succeeding (or learning from our failures) that we can grow. If you love a book, great! If you hate the book, come along and tell the bookclub why, examine it, talk about it. You may learn much about yourself in the process.

Regards until Wednesday 3rd September.
